Genetic divergence among African cowpea lines based on morphoagronomic traits.

چکیده
The aim of this study was to estimate the genetic divergence between African cowpea lines from the Cowpea Germplasm Bank of Embrapa Meio-Norte, Brazil. The morphoagronomic diversity of 57 cowpea lines was assessed using multivariate analysis. The germplasm was evaluated in August 2009 using a randomized block design with three replications based on the following traits: number of pods per peduncle, pod length (PL), number of grains per pod (NGP), grain length (GRL), grain width, 100-grain weight (W100G), and yield. The heritability values of the traits PL, NGP, GRL, and W100G were all higher than 70%, indicating the possibility of genetic progress with selection. The crosses between the lines IT82D-889 and IT89KD-245, IT85F-1380 and IT89KD-245, and IT89KD-245 and IT98K-1092-1 could result in promising genetic combinations. The characteristics that contributed most to genetic divergence were W100G (49.7%), PL (16.7%), GRL (12.0%), and NGP (9.7%).

Genetic divergence through joint analysis of morphoagronomic and molecular characters in accessions of Jatropha curcas.
The aim of this study was to investigate the genetic divergence between accessions of Jatropha curcas through joint analysis of morphoagronomic and molecular characters. To this end, we investigated 11 morphoagronomic characters and performed molecular genotyping, using 23 inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) primers in 46 accessions of J. curcas. We calculated the contribution of each character...
متن کاملMolecular and morphological assessment of genetic variability induced by gamma radiation in canola
Mutation induction is considered as an effective way to enrich plant genetic variation, particularly for traits with a very low level of genetic variation. This research was conducted to assess genetic variation induced by gamma radiation in M2 and M3 mutant lines of canola (Brassica napus L.) by SSR and morphological characteristics and to identify useful mutants in terms of agronomic traits. ...
متن کاملDistinctness of Brazilian common bean cultivars with carioca and black grain by means of morphoagronomic and molecular descriptors
Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is one of the most important legumes for human consumption and is a staple food in the diet of the population of some countries of Latin America, Africa and Asia. The distinction between cultivars is based predominantly on morphological descriptors, which proved inefficient for the differentiation of some cultivars. This study had the objective of describing,...
متن کاملHeirloom tomato gene bank: assessing genetic divergence based on morphological, agronomic and molecular data using a Ward-modified location model.
Accessions in gene banks need to be characterized and evaluated to determine their genetic diversity. We made a joint diversity analysis of the tomato gene bank of the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro in Rio de Janeiro state, using the Ward-modified location model. Forty Solanum lycopersicum accessions were characterized and evaluated for 22 morphoagronomic descriptors an...
متن کاملGenetic diversity of promising lines of barley based on pheno-morphological traits in Ardabil area
To evaluate the genetic diversity in twenty barley genotypes, an experiment based on randomized complete block design with three replications was done at Agriculture Researches Station of Ardabil, Iran in 2009-10. Investigated traits of this study was included days to flowering, plant height, 1000 seed weight, number of infertile tiller, number of seed per spike, harvest index, days to maturity...
